Grade Seven Curriculum

  • The Body Works 7th Grade Book

The main goal of this module is to help students understand the importance of proper exercise and nutrition for good health. Specific mathematics, science, and technology objectives are covered within the context of nutrition, exercise and health.

  • Shaping Our World 7th Grade Book

In this module, students will complete activities that relate to geometry, adaptation, and transportation. Geometry is the branch of math that deals with properties and relationships between points, lines, and figures. Adaptation is a term used in science to describe how living things change over time. Transportation is defined as a technological system that is used to move people and products from one place to another.

  • Living on the Edge 7th Grade Book

This module addresses the mathematical concepts of fractions, ratios and proportions, data tables and graphs, and statistics with experimental and theoretical outcomes in the context of ecology and sustainability. Students gather data about the state of their environment and draw conclusions of the impacts of our technological world. They design and test various alternatives to our unsustainable practices.

  • Manufacturing 7th Grade Book

In this module, students learn how to calculate equivalent forms of whole numbers, fractions, and mixed numbers. They add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions and decimals and they work with geometric shapes and statistics. All of this is in the context of manufacturing. Science content involves the testing of materials for various physical properties. In the Technology classes, students learn how to apply the engineering process as they design a product and develop it for manufacture.

  • Forecasting 7th Grade Book

The Forecasting module utilizes the context of aviation to teach important content. In mathematics, students learn coordinate pairs, work with algebraic expressions, and learn how to balance equations and graph data, including how to determine a best-fit line. Science learning cycles address gathering data, conducting experiments with salt and ice, and exploring air pressure. Technology students gather and use data to make decisions concerning aircraft design and construction as they build model airplanes.
