Due to the continuing circumstances surrounding the worldwide Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Governor Pritzker’s recent decision to move McLean County into Tier 1 resurgence mitigations , and Illinois State University allowing small groups to gather on campus, we are currently discussing the possibility of conducting the 2021 ISRA in multiple formats. We will, at this time, begin taking applications for both online and face-to-face opportunities. Please note that any changes in the COVID-19 pandemic, whether nationwide, statewide, or university-wide, may necessitate changes to the 2021 ISRA schedule. The 2021 Illinois Summer Research Academy (ISRA) face-to-face will be held June 21st - 25th 2021, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, on the campus of Illinois State University (ISU). The virtual ISRA will be help June 28 - July 2nd 2021. Current high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors that participate in the 2021 ISRA will spend a week with ISU professors, ISU students, and high school students from across Illinois working on various hands-on research projects in math, biology, chemistry, or computing and information technology. Students will be introduced to current research projects ISU professors are working on and exposed to the tools and techniques that are being used to accomplish this research. Students then make contributions to these research projects and/or work on their own research projects with their peers.
